Qualcomm to support Windows 8 in their Snapdragon family of mobile processors

In this article, I will discuss Qualcomm's plans to support Windows 8 based operating system in their upcoming Snapdragon series of mobile processors.


Leading mobile processor manufacturer "Qualcomm" announced on 1 June 2011 that their upcoming Snapdragon family of mobile processorts are designed to take advantage of new features of Windows 8. This announcement came on the same day as Microsoft announced it's new version of Windows which is code named "Windows 8".

Qualcomm is planning a series of processors that will support Windows 8. The first in the series is MSM8960, which is expected to be previewed this month. The next in the series will be Snapdragon APQ8064 which is expected in early 2012.

MSM8960 processor will be the first dual-core solution with 3G/LTE modem in the mobile processors. Upcoming processors from Quadcomm will include dual core and quadcore processors for mobile world.
