Each instance of Windows you install on any computer require a special key called 'license key' to complete the installation and activate Windows operating system. Individual license keys are valid only for once installation and cannot be reused except when you re install your operating system on another computer and stop using the previous computer. Windows 8 or any other Microsoft Windows products are not free software. You require a paid license to install Windows 8. How to get Windows 8 free license key

Microsoft never offered any free versions of Windows. No one expects Windows 8 also will be free. However, if you are looking for a free copy of Windows 8, there is some hope.

We are expecting that Windows 8 will be announced later this year. Even though you can't get a free full edition of Windows 8, you will be able to get the beta version free.

Typically, Microsoft allow free download of Alpha and Beta versions of their software. If you are keen on trying the initial versions of Windows 8, wait for the official announcements from Microsoft. The Windows 8 beta download may be available only for a limited time, so try to get your copy as soon as they are available.

It is not clear yet whether the Windows 8 beta will require a product key and require activation. If it require a product key, Microsoft will give you a free license key for your Windows 8 beta software, which may not be valid for final release of Windows 8.
