The booting is the process of loading the files of the operating system in the main memory only if you have switched on the power of your computer system and basically used to maintain the stability with in the secondary storage devices and In this article, I will explain to you the history of the Booting manager and also explains that how the Booting manager will load the files in the main memory?
What is the Booting?
The
Booting
is the process which is often known as the
bootstrapping process
that starts operating systems when the user turns on the computer system using the
boot sequence
which is initial set of operations that the computer system performs when the power is switched on and it is basically used to load the main operating system and act as the
boot loader for the computer system
in which simple program activities the complicated system of programs such that the start up process of a computer system initializes and test the hardware, peripherals and external memory devices and loads the program that allows the loading of the larger programs with the small use of the compiler that compile itself using a small part of the compiler using the programming languages in an existing language to compile more programs of the new written programs in the new language. The BIOS which stands for the basic input output system is there in booting according to which it checks the working of the hardware and other peripherals devices in your system and help to know whether all devices are working properly or not? and if not then shows the error message to the user.
History of the Booting Manager
The computer makes use of the
Bootstrap
which is the file through which computer cannot run without loading the software and first process take place when you switched on your computer is
booting
which load the files of the operating system into the main memory using the priority
bootstraps
and the year 1950, pressing
bootstrap button
causes the program to read the
bootstrap program
and then execute the loaded
boot programs
from punched cards in the operating system and processes are carry forward using the boot button and it at that point of time eliminates the need to execute the files from the ROM which is referred as
bootstrapping
and the IBM firstly used the concept of loading files using the button and this concept is now improved and we get the concept of
booting
which much more improvements in it.
How the Boot Manager Load the files during the Booting?
The computer system has the many peripherals components and one of the most important component is CPU(central processing unit), the work of which is to load the files or the execute program code found in Read Only Memory or Random Access Memory that operates on the console applications which requires the input from the users using the operating system and application program code that are stored in the non volatile data storage elements such as hard disk drives, CD, DVD, flash memory cards, USB flash drive and Floppy disk and then the manager fetched the files from these secondary storage devices when the computer is switched on and load small code with in the ROM and then after the integration of the data there in ROM and finally the combined data and system programs is loaded in RAM and the small program that starts this sequence of loading is known as a
bootstrap loader
whose task is to load the data and programs and then executed them with in the RAM and many times, this can be achieved using the
multiple stage boot loaders
using the programs that increase the complexity sequentially with in the program and the process loading is carried out again and again after which the consistency is maintained with in the secondary storage mediums. The
boot process
can be considered complete when the computer is ready to interact with the user and the operating system itself capable of running system programs or applications programs and today computers boot with in the minute or few seconds are taken and the time taken by the BIOS which act as the
secondary booting element
in the modern computers by bringing the core elements of processes into a single platform. The Supercomputers have the embedded code with in its hardware that can be executed immediately and start booting after few seconds or so. Moreover, you can also boot your system again using the option that is
Enable Booting
from the starting help menu appears on the screen.
