The Windows Task Manager is the important component in the working of the computer system such that the status of the running programs and processes can b e judge from the task manager itself an few applications termination is also take place from task manager. so, In this article I will explain to you the launching of the task manager along with its complete structure of various tabs.

What is the window Task Manager?

Windows Task Manager is the task handler which is managing a program that can be used to provide the information about the processes and programs running on a computer system such that we can know the status of the computer system using the task manager. Sometimes, the task manager is used to terminate the processes and programs using the priority system which can change the state the of the system using the environment through which the user can access control over the processing state of the computer by pressing the button that is Control-Alt-Delete and this will display the list of the currently running services and also the services which is currently not working and stopped at present and display the information to the user about the services of that particular process which involves the process ID and group to which that process belongs.

It is also considered as the task manager application that includes the Microsoft Windows NT family of the operating system that will provides the detailed information about the computer performance, running applications, Processes and CPU usage using the computing services that includes the commit charge which is used by the Microsoft Windows Operating system to describe the total amount of the virtual address space for the backing storage of the page file being used for the maximum potential of the page file usage of the memory information, network activity, statistics, Logged-in uses and system services which is used to set the processes with priorities, processor affinity, forcibly terminate processes, shut down, restart, hibernate or log off from windows.

How to launch the Windows Task Manager?

The Windows Task Manager was introduced in the Windows NT and previous versions of it includes Task List application with fewer features that is capable of listing currently running processes and killing them and then allowing to create the new processes with a program that is known as tasks and used for the display of the programs which is currently running and this is executed by running the taskman.exe file using the C:\Windows directory. The task manager can be launched in windows environment using the following steps which is discussed below-

You can launch the task manager by right clicking on the taskbar then select the “Task Manager” from the pop menu displayed after the clicking or to press the Control-shift-Esc or to press control-Alt-Delete or to type the “taskmgr.exe” from the command line using the address that is C:\Windows\system32|taskmgr.exe.

Structure of the Windows Task manager and operation of its individual Menu

The task manager which appears on the screen either of the any of the four above methods will be consist of the sections and each sections which appears at the top of the task manger are given and discussed below-

Application Tab

Structure and launching of the Windows Task ManagerThe application tab in the task manager shows a list of the programs that are currently running and provides you with the set of the rules and regulations that will determine whether the current process appears on the main screen of the task manager that is on application tab or not?, Any process which is in running state always have the entry in the taskbar and this would possibility the same case with the task manager as well and appears on the application tab of the task manager and you can make any of the change to this applications by changing the state of the individual process by Right clicking on the application list that allows switching of the application by ending the application or by showing the current process of the program which shows its current state under the processes tab that will be associated with the application tab itself. Moreover, the process can be ended from this tab also by choosing the End Task from the applications that will sent the request to the application which is currently running to terminate its operation immediately and this ending of the task is different from the End task chosen from the Processes tab such that this ending will end up the program whereas the process ending will end up the process which is currently running.

Processes Tab

Structure and launching of the Windows Task ManagerThe processes tab will show you the list of the all the processes which is currently running on your computer system and includes various services and processes from other accounts. According to the window definition process is defined as the program under the state of execution which consist of the name with the 15 characters or longer than it and in order to carry out any operation on the currently running processes right click on the list of processes will change the priority of the processes using the processor affinity that will schedule the applications and suspend the processes from the queue of the list and only execute the processes with the high priority. When the user click on the End process then the windows manger causes the immediately kill of that process using the high priority interrupt for that case that is trap and sometimes this process ending may be followed by the another process, the same result happened with the process attached with this process and the process which is attached with main process will also terminate without any notification or warning and clean it the main memory immediately after the call of the end process. Instead of this, there are cases when the process are running under the security context than it will not terminate itself immediately and in that case the use of the kill command line utility is required to end this process and ordinary ending of the process will not take place from this tab.

The processes which are there under the process tab will only consist of the processes which are running under the user accounts that are only that processes which is currently consuming the space of the main memory and in order to extract the other processes of the administrator accounts, select the columns from the view menu.

Performance Tab

Structure and launching of the Windows Task ManagerThe Performance tab as the name suggests will shows you the overall statistics of the system performance, most of the times it will shows the CPU usage that means how much CPU is utilized at present movement including the memory status and the chart is used to represent the status of the CPU and memory being utilized by the process using the threaded lines that can be varied rate per second and particular track and sector memory consumption is also there and shown with the help of colors such that both the free and utilize space is shown under the performance tab, as in the performance mode, the CPU usage is break into two graph of two sections that includes the kernel mode and user mode such that many device drives and core parts of the operating system are running under kernel mode whereas the user applications run under the user mode and each of the either two can switch On at any time using the show kernel times option there on the view menu displayed above the task manager screen. When this service will be turned On the CPU usage graph will be showing the Green color otherwise showing the red color, the Red depicts the amount of time spent by the user with in the kernel mode and the green area shows that the amount of time spend by the user in user mode and both the performance graph vary from one another.

Networking Tab

Structure and launching of the Windows Task ManagerThe Networking Tab will going to show the statistics that is related with the network adapters which is there in the computer system using the by default adapter name there in the main domain with the percentage of the network utilized by the resources being shared, link usage of the state of the network adapter is shown with reference with the networking speed received with the chart of the recent activity that will displays the options which can be shown to the user by choosing the columns from the view menu which is there on the top of the task manager.

Users Tab

Structure and launching of the Windows Task ManagerThe user tab is the last tab of the task manger list that shows the current list of the users whom have a session at present time, as we know that server computer is computer which provide the resources to client on the request made by the client such that each server computer is connected with many clients computers and maintains sessions with them when the accessing of the data from the server computer is required using the terminal services and windows environment provides the provision according to which multiple users at the same time logged onto the server computer at any time using the faster switching features and this tab shows the users who are maintaining the session and also the users who has been disconnected the session.
