What is the Microsoft Agent?

Microsoft Agent is a set of software services and technology developed by Microsoft that supports interactive characters within the Microsoft windowsdisplay which employs animated characters, text to speech engines and speech recognition that enhance the interaction with the computer users. For example- Office assistant and embodied agent that uses the shape shifting and color shifting that come as the part of the pre-installation in Microsoft windows 2000 and windows Vista but it is not there in window 7.The Microsoft Agent is exposed as an ActiveX control that can be used by the most of the web pages. The characters which you have entered are directly interacting with you.

This concept is coming from the social interfaces and now become the center of the language and information which was initially comes as the office Assistant in Office 97 that offers more flexibility to the third party developers that includes many applications and web pages with many characters and utilities that helps the developers to integrate their own characters and interactions.
