Most of you might have used Internet Explorer for browsing websites. Internet Explorer is a web browser by Microsoft corporation.

The Internet Explorer always includes an option to remember the user names and passwords that you use when ever you login into various web sites. So when you login next time into the same website using Internet Explorer, IE will "auto fill" the user name and password for you. You need not remember the password. But as you keep on using this built in feature of Internet Explorer of remembering the passwords, one day you may end up forgetting the passwords since Internet Explorer is doing the job for you. So how are you going to know your password? Even when you login into the website next time, you will only see the series of stars and you do not see actual password when IE auto fills the password. This is a screen shot of GMail Login screen. Here I have checked the check box labelled 'Stay Signed In', that means Internet explorer will remember my user name and password. So I can start logging into my GMail account using Internet Explorer without remembering my password. Internet Explorer will auto fill the password for me. So I can login into GMail every day like this. One day or other I will forget my password and since Internet Explorer is only showing the password as a series of dots and not plain text, I cannot see it.

It is possible to recover the password if you have allowed Internet Explorer to store your password. Internet Explorer never allows you to have a look at the saved passwords and user names. If you are interested to recover the forgotten passwords, there is an easy way to do that.

You can recover the passwords of Internet Explorer using the Password recovery Engine which is a software meant for Internet Explorer. This tool can recover the password that you have forgotten along with the user name. It is very easy to recover the passwords with this tool. You will get the list of all the websites along with their user names and passwords once you start the recovery process. If you choose a password from the list, you can even copy it on the clip board. Or you can save the list into a file by clicking on 'Save list data to file' tab.

There is another tool which is called as PC Tools Password Utilities Tool which is available at the site: 'http://www.pctools.com/guides/password'. You can download it from there and install it in your computer. After installing it, simply follow the instructions ( 3 steps) given in the Password Revealer Tab. You will then see the password displayed as plain text.
