If you want to switch firewall on or off in your Windows 7 computer, this articles explains you how to create a short cut on the desktop of your Windows 7 Computer so that you can switch the firewall on or off by clicking on the shortcut.
How to create a shortcut to turn Windows 7 firewall on or off
Do you want to frequently change the
firewall settings
in your
Windows 7
Computer? You may need to
disable firewall
many times for troubleshooting your computer. For disabling the
firewall
, you normally need to follow many steps like opening the control panel, then opening Windows
firewall settings
, and then clicking on "Change Settings" etc. So it would be easy if you can create a shortcut on your desktop to switch on or off the
Windows 7 firewall
by only one click on the shortcut.
You can use the built-in '
netsh
' utility which is normally used for performing networking functions. So if we can create a shortcut to this utility with appropriate parameters, we can switch
Windows firewall
either on or off.
First you need to right-click anywhere on the desktop and select
New
->
Shortcut
from the drop down menu.
Now you will be asked for the location of the item. Type the following command in the location text box.
To Create Shortcut to
Disable Firewall
, use following command:
"
netsh firewall set opmode disable
" -- to disable the Firewall
"
netsh firewall set opmode enable
" -- to enable the Firewall
Once the correct command is added into the location text box, click on 'Next' button and provide a suitable name for the short cut and click on 'Finish' button. For example you can give a name like 'Disable Windows Firewall
That is all. Now your new shortcut appears on your desktop. Once you double click on the shortcut it will disable / enable the
Windows 7 firewall
.
