What is new in Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta

Mozilla Firefox is one the best browser in terms of the performance and the features. Mozilla Firefox 4 beta released its Windows Mac version. Linux version of Firefox will be released soon. Final version of Firefox is delayed because of the testing and feedback by the beta users.

Firefox 4 beta includes number of features like HTML5 support, CSS3 features, Accelerated hardware support, Multitouch support for Windows 7 and many other features. Compared to its previous version there is major changes in Firefox beta 4, but the final version may come up with new features.

Noted features in GUI are the new location of tab. Firefox 4 beta tab is at the top of the browser window. Switching between the tabs is easier as it will be displayed in the address bar of the Firefox beta browser. Firebox button which on the top of the page using which you can navigate to other pages and other information like the file menu.

WebM is a new feature available in Firefox 4 beta which is a open standard for video and audio format. WebM standard is aiming for the High quality video and audio standards for the web and currently supported by Mozilla, Opera, Google and some other browsers. YouTube videos can also be watched using WebM and it requires WebM supported browser with Plug-in

Lazy Frame Construction will give better performance by allowing DOM operations in one batch rather than doing one by one will take more time to load. The Lazy Frame will not block the script while creating the frame for the nodes. Initial test result shows a big improvement than its previous version. Once the node is created and the frame will be created in 20 ms intervals and it may be reduced in the final version of Firefox 4.

CSS Resizing is included to control the resizing textarea element. By default the property is set to true and we need to override in order to disable the textarea resizing. –moz-any will allow you to minimize the work in constructing the similar selectors. It will be useful when you are working with HTML5 sections.

Touch Events support is included in Mozilla Firefox 4 beta for Windows 7. Multitouch functionality will work based on the mouse events. It is easier for the touch screen monitors which will give more user friendliness to the touch screen users.

File API is included in Firefox beta 4. Fie API will list the file properties. Many of those are non standards and it may be removed.

Content Security Policy is a one of the security features that is added in Firefox 4 Beta. It will help the Firefox users to identify some of the attacks like Cross Site Scripting. CSP will basically to protect the data theft. clickjacking is a way to move the users to another page by using the hidden iframe and when the user clicks the hidden frame it will redirect to the malicious site. CSP will detect the clickjacking frames in Firefox beta 4.

Privacy is one of the important aspects while browsing in various web sites. The most common problem is the visited and unvisited links. Visited links can be visible to the owner of the web site, they can easily track your activity and using CSS they can access the users browsing history. Firefox Beta 4 implemented the fix for the user Privacy.

Features like Integrated Memory management and Web Inspector will be coming in the next version of Firefox.

IndexedDB is an API to make the search faster for the structured data which is stored in the client machine.

FormData and Websockets are implemented in Firefox 4 beta to send the form data and other data as well. OOPP plug-in for Mac version is added in the new version.
