How to disable Windows 7 Gadgets

Gadgets are some kind of mini programs in Windows 7 which will provide you with access to frequently used tools. One example can be you can use Gadgets to display the time as analog clock. This article explains how to disable Gadgets in Windows 7.

How to disable Gadgets in Windows 7

Desktop Gadgets are a new feature in Windows 7 and these are a kind of mini programs or tools which are readily available for you to use. You can use the Desktop Gadgets to keep readily available information. For example, you can display news head lines. So you need not stop the work you are doing and switch to a news website for news. You can see it right on the desktop itself using the Gadgets.

There is a Gadget to display a picture slide show, or a puzzle, or a click. But if you do not want to make use of Windows 7 Gadgets, or if you want to disable the use of Gaggets in Windows 7, please follow the steps given below.

Click on Start and type "Turn Windows Features on or off" in the search box of Start menu and press Enter button.

Otherwise you can even access this by clicking on Start -> Control Panel -> Programs -> Turn Windows features on and off. See a screen shot here.

Now the Windows features window opens up asking you to turn Windows features on or off. You will find a list of different features of Windows with check box before each feature

You will see a feature named "Windows Gadget Platform". You just have to uncheck ( clear) the check box to the left of this and click on OK button. see a screen shot here.

That is all. Windows Gadgets feature in your Windows 7 computer is disabled.
