default web browser
in earlier versions of Windows operating systems. Unfortunately it is a little difficult to set Firefox as the
default web browser in Windows 7
. Most of you might have experienced the problem of setting Firefox as your Windows 7 computer's default web browser. Once you set Firefox as your default web browser in your
Windows 7 computer
, it will be default web browser only until you shut down the computer. Once you restart your Windows 7 computer, you will find that Internet Explorer is once again the default web browser. There may be some unknown reason for this, but most of you might have experienced this kind of problem with Firefox in Windows 7. Let us see how to force Windows 7 to recognize Firefox as the default web browser even after restarting your Windows 7 computer.
Setting Firefox as default web browser in Windows 7 computer
If you are experiencing the problem of resetting Firefox as default browser every time you restart your Windows 7 computer, then this article is useful to you. The technique explained here will not allow
Windows 7 computer
to use Internet Explorer when ever you click on a link and will always open Firefox when ever you click on a link. if this technique does not work, then you may have to completely uninstall Internet Explorer completely from your computer. Follow the steps given below:
First you have to login into your
Windows 7 computer
as an Administrator. Once you login, click on
Start
and type '
default
' in the Search box in the Start menu.
After typing 'default' in the search box, click on the '
Default Programs
' link in the list. Now Windows 7 will open the Default Programs window.
Now click on the link with label '
Set Program Access and Computer Defaults
'.
Now you will see the Computer Default option window. You have to select the '
Custom
' option and press OK.
Now
Windows 7
will show you a list of options for program defaults.
Now you look for a set of options with title 'Choose a Default Web Browser'. Under this you will see a list of web browsers which can be selected. You can select Firefox as the default web browser. This can be done by clicking on the option which is titled 'Mozilla Firefox' and also please make sure that you check the option next to it. The option is labelled as 'Enable Access to this Program'.
Now you have to uncheck the option next to Internet Explorer which is titled as 'Enable Access to this Program'.
This will force Windows 7 to select Firefox as the default web browser and will ignore about Internet Explorer.
Click OK to restart the Windows 7 computer and you will see that Firefox is the default web browser for your Windows 7 computer.
All of you can try this trick and see if it is possible to set Firefox as the default web browser of your
Windows 7 computer
. If this trick does not work, you may have to uninstall Interenet Explorer as explained earlier in this article.
