This article explains how to turn off the system beep sound in Windows XP, Vista and 7 which will disturb the system users by the annoying system beep sounds for various reasons.
How to turn off the system beep sound in Windows
Windows operating system will produce the beep sound for some errors, dialog boxes and other incorrect key press. It is useful to get the sound when we are doing something wrong. Many times it will disturb us and it will irritate when we are working more seriously. So how do we control all those sounds and make the system clean from sounds.
System beep sounds are so important and it will indicate the system errors and it will alert you against the system damages. When the system processor or RAM or hard disk is not working properly will give the system alert using the beep sound.
You can disable the beep sound from the system. This procedure to disable the system beep is applicable to Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. You can turn off the entire Windows system beep message and you can turn on any time it you need it.
To disable the beep sounds from the
Windows XP
system click windows start
menu and then select the
Computer
and right click the computer and select
Properties
and select
Hardware
tab will show you the
Device Manager
button.
To disable the beep sounds from the
Windows Vista, Windows 7
system click windows start menu and then select the
Computer
and right click the computer and select
Properties
will open control panel's
System
window.
Device Manager
link will be shown on the left top side of the Window (Check the below screenshot).
Click the Device Manager will open the Device manager Window. From Device Manager Windows click view menu and select
Show hidden devices
will show the hidden devices and it will not be visible by default as it is not required for normal use. It is required when you want to troubleshoot the devices.
Expand
Non-Plug and Play Drivers
will show you all the non-plug and play devices. Non-plug and play devices are will not confirm the plug and play devices standard and specification.
Click the
Show hidden devices
button and it will show the hidden devices. Expand
Non-plug and Play Drivers
, select
Beep
, right click the mouse button and select
Properties
will show
Beep Properties
Window. (Check the below screen shot).
Select "Driver" tab from
Beep Properties
, select "Disabled" option and click "OK" button to disable the beep sound. You can enable the beep sound any time by modifying the
Disabled
option to
System
will enable the Windows beep (Check the below screenshot).

Really a good info on sounds on Windows7 We use to do this on Windows XP by using the control pannel, Sounds and devices and we use to set all the the options to custom by using the program events and use to add custom sounds etc.
