The Problem Step Recorder is a nice feature in Windows 7 for recording computer issues and problems so that it can be shown to a computer service engineer for solutions. This article explains how to record the problems in your Windows 7 computer using the Problem Step Recorder in Windows 7.
How to record problems in your Windows 7u Computer with Problem Step Recorder
The
Problem Step Recorder
is a new feature introduced alongwith
Windows 7
operating system. This feature allows you to record all the screen activities that you perform in your computer and it converts the results into a MHTML file format. By reading this MHTML file, you can identify the problem in your
Windows 7 computer
and try to find out the solution. Let us now see how to record the problems in your
computer using the
Problem Step Recorder
. Please follow the steps given below:
Click on 'Start' button in your Windows 7 computer.
Now type '
psr
' in the search box in the start menu.
Now press the '
Enter
' button to start the Problem Step Recorder.
Once the Problem Step Recorder opens up, click on the '
Start Record
' button to start recording your screen activities. A Screen shot of the Problem Step Recorder is given below.
Once you click on '
Start Record
', the Problem Step Recorder will start recording all the errors and problems in your computer and store the result in an MHTML file.
Whenever you want to stop recording, you can click on '
Stop Record
' button to stop recording. You can even pause the recording by clicking on '
Pause Record
'. When you click on 'Stop Record', the tool will stop recording and will save the file with the name that you specify.
The recorded file is a zipped file in MHTML format. You can extract the MHTML file from the Zip file and can open it in browser using IE8 to check all the activities in your computer including the screen shots.
