This article is about how to turn off indexing in Windows XP? Turn off indexing in Windows.
If you want to search any file in Windows then you have wait for some time. It normally takes more time to search the files and folders in windows. Sometimes it is very important to search any files and folders. But there is no alternate, just wait for some time.
In fact there is way to increase the speed of searching the files and folders.
If you want to increase speed of searching feature, then you have to turn off the indexing option of the folders. This will increase the speed and performance of searching the files and folders.
To turn off indexing option you have simply follow these below steps:-
1)
Double-Click on
My Computer
, then right-click on
C Drive
or whatever you Windows drive.
2)
Now select the option
Properties
.
3)
Now you can see the option of
Allow Indexing Service to Index the is disk for fast file searching
. Now uncheck this option.
4)
A new window will appear with the option
Do you want to apply these settings to all the files and folders
.
Select the second option
Apply changes to C:\, subfolders and files
option. Then click on
OK
.
5)
Now you have to wait for few minutes to turning off indexing feature from the drive.
6)
Might be you can get the option of
Access Denied
, don't worry about this deny and click on
Ignore all
button.
This happens because some windows files don't have any access to turnoff indexing.
After turning off indexing feature in windows on your drive you can try to search any file or folder.
You can see that the speed and performance have been increased.
