How to Limit the reserve bandwidth in the windows 7
There are many advanced features and most distinguishing features that are associated with the
windows 7 operating system
. Limiting the reserve bandwidth in the windows is one of the greatest features in the windows 7. Generally a system uses some percentage of the bandwidth of the internet connection that it can reserve for the system. This resource will provide you information on how to limit the
system reserve bandwidth in windows 7.
For limiting the system reserve bandwidth you will have perform the following steps.
Step 1: First of all you should click the
start button in the windows 7
and type Run. You will get the
Run
screen appeared.
Step 2: Type
gpedit.msc
in the run option.
Step 3: You will be directed to the
Local Group Policy Editor
where you can find Computer configuration and the User configuration.
Step 4: Click the
Administrative Templates
that is present in the
Computer configuration option
. Select Network in the Administrative templates.
Step 5: You will be getting list of setting for the
Network
option in the Administrative templates. Click on the
QoS Packet Scheduler
Step 6: Here you can find the list of setting for the packets. Now here you should double click
Limit reservable bandwidth.
Step 7: You will be getting a new window to change the setting. By default
Not Configured
option will be selected.
Step 8: When you see that if the default option is
Not Configured
, even then you can see that the default bandwidth allocation will be 20 percent.
Step 9: You can click the Enabled option and you can find that the
Bandwidth limit
will be showed as the 20%
Step 10: You can now make the
Bandwidth limit
value as zero and click the Ok button to finish the setting.
Necessity of limiting reservable bandwidth
This particular configuration is necessary because 20 percent of your system bandwidth is getting wasted and not used by your network. Usually when the network adapter makes the changes in the registry this particular setting is ignored and the default limit of bandwidth reserved is in 20 percent itself. So when the network adapter configuration is done automatically it is necessary that we should go for the manual changes in the limiting of the system reserved bandwidth. This helps in making use of our network bandwidth to greater extent.
Even if you keep the default reserved bandwidth in the Disabled position even then 20 percent will be set to default and used by the network adapter.
