In this article I will explain how to run a program as if it is run by another user in the same computer. This is possible with in built feature available in Windows 7.
How to run a Windows 7 program as a different user
A new feature is added in Windows 7 to run any program as a different user. This feature was there in Windows XP but was removed in Windows Vista. Now it is once again included in Windows 7. Let us see how you can
run a program as a different user
even if you are logged in with your own user account.
The 'Run as different user' is a built in feature of Windows 7. When you right-click on a program icon, you will see different options out of which one is 'run as administrator'. You will not see 'run as different user' option by just right clicking on the program icon. You need to press 'Shift' as well as right-click to get that option of run as different user.
In order to display that option of '
Run as a different user
', you need to simultaneously press 'Shift' key and also right-click on the icon. Here are the steps to do it.
First you should press the 'Shift' key on your keyboard and hold it in pressed condition. Now while the Shift key is in pressed condition, right-click on the program icon which you want to run as a different user.
Now click on 'Run as different user' option. See a screen shot of this.
In the above screen shot, I want to run Calculator program as a different user.
