What is needed to set up a home network in Windows 7

There are many options to set up a home network in Windows 7. The first thing about setting up a home network is to decide what kind of network technology you want to use to connect the computers in the home group.

Normally we use four types of network technologies like Wireless, HomePNA, Powerline and Ethernet. The network technology that you want to use for your home network depends on several factors like the speed of the network, or the location of the computers etc.

Hardware requirements for setting up a home network:

A number of hard ware devices are required to set up a home network. For example the Network adapters, Hubs and switches etc. Network adapters are within a computer and are needed to communicate with other computers in the network. This adapter can be installed inside the PCI slot of your computer. The hubs and switches are required for connecting a number of computers to a network.

A Router is another network hardware device which connects different kinds of networks together. There are wired and wireless routers available in the market.

The other hard ware components required to set up a home network are the network cables. You need the network cables for connecting the computers to the network or to the switches and routers etc.
