What is Action Center in Windows 7

The Action Center is a feature which is included with the Windows operating systems. This feature was included from Windows XP onwards. The Action center is some thing where you can find information about your system security settings and also you can solve the problems if any with your Windows 7 computer.

The Action Center of Windows 7 monitors the security settings and will inform you via a pop-up baloon if it finds a problem with the security settings. The earlier name of this feature was Security Center but the name is changed to Action Center from Windows 7 onwards.

The Action Center of Windows 7 checks for security and maintenance related problems in your Windows 7 computer and there by helps you to check the performance of your computer. If the status of a monitored item changes, the Action Center will notify you with a message.

It is possible to select which items can be monitored with the help of Action Center. Let us see how can we select which items to be monitored with Action Center.

First of all open Action Center by clicking on Start -> Control Panel.

Once the Control Panel window opens up, please click on Review your computer's status under System and Security.

Now you have to click on Change Action Center settings.

Now you need to simply select the check box to allow Action Center to check an item for changes or problems. If you clear the check box, Action Center will stop checking that item.

Now click OK.
