The computer vision syndrome is the real problem of most of the people in this modern age who are spending hours together in front of computer, IPod etc. The cause of computer vision syndrome is due to looking at the computer screen for quite a long time. It is due to the reaction of our eyes to the words and pictures that appear on the screen. Our eyes find it difficult to focus on the words or the pictures that appear on the computer monitor. The symptoms of computer vision are given below:

Symptoms of computer vision syndrome

  • Eye strain: This is one of the most common symptoms of computer vision syndrome.
  • It is difficult to focus on the monitor screen if you are suffering from computer vision syndrome

Tips to avoid computer vision syndrome

  • Blink your eyes more often: You should often blink your eyes to prevent dry eyes. When you are looking at the computer monitor, normally it is common to blink less often than normal blinking. This may lead to dry eyes.
  • 20/20/20 Rule: While working with computers for a long time, you should spend out of every 20 minutes look at some thing about 20 feet away for 20 seconds so that your eyes will take some rest.
  • Proper lightning should be there in the room where you are working with computer
  • It is better to have a LCD monitor than CRT monitor. LCD monitor is less likely to cause computer vision syndrome. LCD monitor has higher refresh rate which does not cause flicker and also has anti-reflective surface.
