How to create a password reset disk in Windows 7

This article explains how to create a password reset disk in Windows 7 for a administrator account in a Floppy drive or USB flash drive, so that the forgotten password can be reset using this feature.
How to create Password reset disk in Windows 7
Windows will authenticate the user using username and password. Home users will create an administrator account and mostly they will use the single account. Sometimes the user may forget the password and if you forgot the administrator account password then you format and install the complete OS is the best option. There are some tools available to recover the password for the administrator account, but that depends on the complexity of the password. None of the password recover tool is free.
Windows operating system is having options to create a password reset disk from which you can create the password reset disk and it create the disk either in Floppy disk or USB drive. It is easy to create the password reset disk and it will be useful when you forgot the administrator account password of the Windows 7 system. The password reset disk creation will not format the USB drive or floppy drive. It will just create the file in the selected disk.
In order to create the password reset disk login as an administrator of the system and insert the floppy disk or USB flash drive and then open the control panel and select the
User Accounts
link will open the User Accounts. From the User Accounts Window click
Create a password reset disk
will open
Forgotten Password Wizard
Window (Check the below screenshot).
From Forgotten Password Wizard Window click
Next
button to continue. It will show the list of attached drive in the dropdown box. Select the USB flash drive or Floppy disk to create the password reset disk and then click the next button (Check the below screen shot).
Next you need to type the Administrator System password, if the administrator account is not having any password then keep it as blank and click next to create the password reset file and it will save the file to the select disk (Check the below screenshot).
Next screen will create the password reset file and it will show the progress bar. Once the progress bar shows 100 % completed then the file is saved to the removable USB flash drive.(Check the below screenshot).
Click the next button to finish the password reset disk completion.(check the below screenshot)
Now the password reset disk is ready and it will create a file as userkey.psw with the size of around 2 kb or 3 kb depends on the complexity of the password. If you open the userkey.psw file in notepad you can see the encrypted password file. Keep it in a safe place. Whenever it is required use it to recover the password of the system administrator account of Windows 7.
