In this resource I would like to introduce the concept activating remote desktop feature on the PC hosting Windows 7 or Windows Vista.
How to Activate Remote Desktop feature in Windows Vista or Windows 7
We generally use Remote Desktop feature to connect to other machines on the network. On systems hosting Windows XP this feature is activated by default. Machines hosting Windows 7 or Windows Vista do not have this feature turned ON. By default the remote desktop is deactivated on these machines. Also the feature of Remote Desktop is not available for Home Editions of Vista or Windows 7. This feature comes with Business, professional or Ultimate editions of the respective operating systems.
Follow the below steps to activate remote desktop on Windows Vista or Windows 7 machine.
1) Go to My Computer Icon,
2) Right click on it.
3) Click on Properties.
4) A window pops up with different tabs.
5) Click on the Remote Settings link on the left hand side.
6) Now just turn it ON.
Remote desktop is now active on your system.
Here you again have the option of choosing which OS system to allow connections. You can choose if or not to allow connections from systems hosting OS other than Vista or Windows 7.
