How to see items on your Windows 7 screen to appear larger

Windows 7 has a new feature called as Magnifier. The Magnifier of Windows 7 allows you to zoom in our zoom out of the screen.

The Magnifier in your Windows 7 computer can enlarge different parts of a screen or the whole screen at a time. This feature is very much useful for you to see the objects which are difficult to see. That means you can magnify a selected area of the screen by leaving the rest of the screen unmagnified.

Modes of using Magnifier in Windows 7

There are three modes of using the Magnifier in Windows 7.

  • Full Screen mode: In this mode, the entire screen is magnified and you can have the magnifier to follow the mouse pointer.

  • Lens Mode: In the lens mode, the area around the mouse pointer is only magnified. When the mouse pointer is moved, the area of the screen that is magnified also moves along with the mouse pointer. This is useful to magnify only a particular area on the screen.

  • Docked Mode: In the docked mode of magnifier of Windows 7, only a portion of the screen is magnified and the rest of the screen remains unmagnified or in the normal state. You can then control which area of the screen to be magnified.

  • Short cut keys to use the Magnifier in Windows 7

    Short cut keys are available to use Windows 7 Magnifier. You can use the following short cut keys to launch or close the magnifier for your entire desktop.

    * Windows Logo key + Plus key to Zoom in
    * Windows Logo key + Minus key to zoom out
    * Windows Logo key + ESC key to exit.

    If you want to only magnify an area around the mouse pointer like a real magnifying glass, you need to go to Lens mode. You can also use the dock mode which shows the magnified area at the top of the dock area by using the short cut keys while you are stil in the magnifier view. Let us see what keyboard short cut do we use.

    * Ctrl + Alt + F - Full screen mode
    * Ctrl + Alt + L - Len mode
    * Ctrl + Alt + D - Dock mode
