Internet Explorer is slow because of various reasons. You computer less memory, inadequate disk space to load Internet explorer or the too many web pages opened in the Internet Explorer. The machine which you installed the Internet Explorer should have the minimum hardware requirement.

Check your Internet Connection
Internet connection type (Dial up, Broad band, ISDN) is one of the problems for the slow connection. Virus, spyware, malware, malicious code and other unwanted programs may slow down the internet. Heavy traffic of the web site, Network connections if it is connected to proxy may also cause for the slow internet connection.
Spyware and Virus will reduce the speed of your internet connection. Spyware will monitor the connection for the data transfer. If you identified any virus in the system then try to remove it using antivirus software and then connect to the internet.
Internet connection with 700 Kbps will not get the full 700 Kbps, at the maximum you will get 200-400 Kbps depends on your phone line and your connection provider.
Try to find the slowness of the internet connection by using the Internet connection troubleshooter. Distance between your service provider networks may also be the problem. Check your connection line if the wire or phone line is the problem then change the phone connection wire.
In wireless connection network, if the cordless phone is at 2.4 GHz and your wireless laptop 2.4 GHz will block your internet connection, so try to avoid both of them in same frequency.
ActiveX control in Web browser
Some of the ActiveX controls and plug-in may slow down the internet. Conflicts with other software also cause the internet to respond slowly. Disable the ActiveX control and try to check the speed of the internet connection and remove the ActiveX control. If some of the ActiveX is the cause the internet connection speed then disable it and use it when it is required.
Internet Explorer Settings
Rarely Internet Explorer settings that are modified may cause the slow internet connection. You may need to reset the settings to default settings. Some of the reset settings may remove the settings that are required for a website. Resetting settings will reset the pop up blocker, text settings, Feed settings, fonts and other customized settings will be set to default.
Delete all the temporary files, cookies and other Personal settings will improve the performance and will increase the disk space of the system.
Other Factors that affects Internet Connection
Internet Explorer requires some memory, processor and disk space to work. Delete the Temporary internet files, browsing history and other items, Even if you cleared all those files that may be in Memory will occupy unnecessary memory. So once you deleted all the temporary files and other changes, close the browser and wait for few seconds and open a new browser will clear all the memory occupied by the previous browser. If you viewed an online streaming audio/video then close it once that is finished will release the cache memory.
