Monitor does not display anything when set to a new resolution

Screen resolution is the clarity with which images and text is displayed on your computer monitor. Normally the CRT monitors display the resolutions of 800 X 600 or 1024 X 768. But LCD monitors can display much higher resolutions. It depends on the size of the monitor and the type of video card to see whether you can display a particular resolution or increse the resolution of your monitor.

All the monitors that you use in your windows 7 have certain range of display resolutions that they can display. If we specify a resolution which is outside the range which the monitor can display, then the monitor may not display the image properly or may not display anything.

Windows 7 will wait for some time when you change the resolution and ask for confirmation whether to keep the changed resolution or not? Unless you confirm the new resolution, Windows 7u will not change the resolution. If you are not confirming the change, then windows 7 will keep the previous resolution. But if you confirm a resolution which is outside the range of resolutions that a monitor can display, then it will be problem.

You need to restart your windows 7 in safe mode and reset the resolution to the resolution which yourmonitor can display.
