This article explains Microsoft Windows 7 built in security features that is free from Microsoft to protect against virus, malware, spyware, malicious software and other unwanted programs
Windows 7 is having some enhanced security compared to the previous operating system. Windows 7 includes lot of improvement in security. To protect Windows 7 and previous version of windows machine we have much 3rd party Antivirus, Antispyware, Antimalware and many more to protect the Windows System. As an Owner of the Operating system what Microsoft is a given to protect their Operating System.
Windows built in Security Features
Microsoft included many in built insecurity features to protect its Windows operating system. We will see the high level overview of those built in features provided by Microsoft
Windows Firewall
Windows 7 firewall will protect the system from malicious software and hackers which will access the system without any trace. Hackers usually write malicious code to enter into the system and then it will start sending the important information to the hackers without any traces is the specialty of the malicious code. Firewall will prevent worms and viruses from entering in to the computer. Windows 7 is having a firewall and it will be enabled by default.
User Access Control
User Access Control is introduced in Windows Vista. But most of the people didn't like it. Now in Windows 7 it is improved and lot of changes made to improves the security of the system. UAC will inform you when a new program is trying to install or make modifications to a program require Administrator credentials. If you feel that it is not important then you can turn off the UAC. UAC has icons to indicate what kind of severity.
Windows Action Center
Windows action center is part of Windows 7 and it is improved than the previous versions. It will reduce the notifications and make the ones which have more meaning; once you open the message it will show you the complete list with more details about the issues or problem and its criticality. Red color indicates it is critical and Yellow indicates a attention in required soon. It will inform you even if you didn't take a backup of your system or your antivirus definition is out of date. It will be more useful like your personal assistant to inform you everything about your system.
Windows Defender
Windows defender will protect the system from unwanted popup, performance issues and other security threats. Windows defender will monitor the system and helps to protect against spyware attacks. You can perform automatic, manual and scheduled scans. It will protect your internet safety. The Online
SpyNet community
will help you in identifying the unknown security threats. Once you issue is solved then you can post the issue resolution which will help others to solve the issue.
Windows Security Essentials
Windows Security Essentials is complete antivirus software provided by Microsoft for free. Only constraint is the Windows operating system should a genuine copy. Windows Essentials will protect your computer against Viruses, spyware, malicious software and other unwanted programs.
