Follow these steps-

* Get compatible hardware to create a disk subsystem i.e. a disk, a disk interface, and a cable.

* Gather configuration information as needed on the drive.

* Jumper the drive so that it can co-exist with other drives or jumper it to work done.

* Keep the drive in its place and fix it firmly. Then connect all the cables that is power cable and data cable properly and the carefully.

* Configure the system's CMOS so that it knows that there's a drive there.

* Low levels format the drive if necessary.

* Then partition the drive, whether you want the drive to act as one large drive or several small devices.

* The high levels format the drive to make it ready for your operating system.
