IIS & Web hosting: IIS Express on Windows 2003

IIS Express is not yet released, but people have already started discussing compatibility issues with various versions and editions of Windows. A lot of Windows hosting companies and developers still use Windows 2003 which has been a very stable server operating system for years.

The good news to Windows 2003 users are here: IIS Express will be compatible with Windows 2003 and you will be able to use IIS Express to host web applications on Windows 2003 server.

What kind of service pack or patch is required on Windows 2003 to make the IIS Express run on Windows 2003 is not yet known. The only available information regarding the compatibility is ScottGu's response in his blog to one of the queries by a user. ScottGu has confirmed that:

Yes - this will support both the integrated pipeline and classic modes.
