In this article, I will explain how to shutdown your computer with one click.
Most of us like me, sometimes get frustrated to shutdown the system with 3 clicks! Start >> Shutdown >> OK
The easiest solution to this is by creating a shortcut to Shutdown by following the below steps-
1. Right click on an empty space on your desktop and click
New>>Shortcut
2. A window will open up titled 'Create Shortcut'. In the text box for 'Type the location of the item:' type
shutdown.exe -s -t 0
and click Next
**
shutdown.exe -s -t 0 means shutdown and wait for 0 seconds
3. Type
Shortcut
or any desired name for your shortcut and click Finish
4. You will see a new icon created on your desktop which can now be used to shutdown your system
5. Further if you wish to change the icon of your shortcut – Right click the shortcut icon and select
Properties
6. Under the Shortcut tab, click
Change Icon…
7. Ignore the alert popup by clicking OK
8. Now you can choose the desired icon for your Shutdown shortcut and click OK
Display a message on Shutdown
If you would like to display a message on shutdown, here is how to do it -
In step 2, type
shutdown -s -c "message" -t 10
and continue as above with other steps.
For example, shutdown -s -c "Have a Great Day!" -t 10
**
Remember not to keep the timer as 0 when you want to display the message
