To setup broadband connection in Windows 7
Most of us have a broadband connection to the Internet in these days. Before going for the Broadband setup we will see what the types of connections available are.
Broadband connections are defined by their bandwidth and fall into the below categories
Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)
DSL is a wire line technology that transmits data in a copper telephone lines in conjunction with special hardware on the switch and the user ends of the line. The Special hardware allows for continuous digital connection over the phone DSL-based broadband speeds ranging from kilo bytes per second (Kbps) to millions of bits per second (Mbps). The availability and speed of your DSL service may depend on the distance between your home/office and the Service provider. The most commonly available technology is ADSL for Residential customer and SDLC by Business customers.
ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line)
ADSL Broadband is mostly used by residential customer.ADSL allows you to use the regular telephone line and internet at the same time without disturbing the calls on that line. The Download rate varies from 1.5 to 9Mbps and the upload rate varies from 16 to 640Kbps based on your connection speed and type of connection.
SDSL (Symmetrical Digital Subscriber Line)
SDLC is similar to ADSL connection. It is used typically for Business purpose as it requires for video conferencing, but it requires a extra telephone line for voice calls.
Cable modem service is provided using the same coaxial cables to deliver the internet and picture, sound to your TV. Most cable modems are external devices that have two connections, one to the cable and the other to a computer.
Any of above types of connections provides high-speed access to the Internet.
Every connection requires a service from ISP (based on your geographical location. In India Internet service providers are BSNL, Tata, Airtel and many more). Cable modem service does not usually require a username and password to login to the internet then you typically don't need to establish a separate broadband connection. On the other hand if your service provider requires you to use a username and password it has assigned, then you need to set the username and password for the connection

|Thanks for the guide, But my question is when I delete the existing connection and make a new one the number is different. I mean 1st it was "BROADBAND CONNECTION" now I've deleted the connection for 4th time because of some connection problem and now when I made a new connection Its showing "BROADBAND CONNECTION 5". There is no problem in connecting the net, But I want the number to be like the previous one i.e. "BROADBAND CONNECTION" No numbers beside it. Thank you waiting for your answer.|
