To enable the viewing of Hidden files follow these steps:

First close all the programs so that only the desktop is displayed.

Then you click the "Start" button, and then click "Control Panel".

Click Appearance and Personalization.

Then click on Folder Options.

Then click the View tab, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK

Under the hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.

Remove the check mark from the check box labeled "Hide protected operating system files".

Press Apply followed by OK and close all open windows.

Now Windows Vista is configured to show the hidden files.
