All the Microsoft operating systems hide some of the system files from being seen by users. This is for security reason as they may be deleted accidentally by the users. Seeing hidden files and system files in Windows Vista is some thing different than the previous operating systems. In this article you will learn how to view the hidden files in Windows Vista Operating system
All of the Microsoft Operating Systems hide some files from being seen by the users. Normally these files will be the system files so that they cannot be deleted accidentally by the person using the computer. If you delete these system files by mistake, then your computer may not function correctly or may not work at all.
Here are the steps that will allow you to see the hidden files in Windows Vista Operating System. But please keep in mind that these files are hidden for some purpose and you should not delete or change the contents of these files.
To enable the viewing of Hidden files follow these steps:
First close all the programs so that only the desktop is displayed.
Then you click the "Start" button, and then click "Control Panel".
Click Appearance and Personalization.
Then click on Folder Options.
Then click the View tab, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK
Under the hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
Remove the check mark from the check box labeled "Hide protected operating system files".
Press Apply followed by OK and close all open windows.
Now Windows Vista is configured to show the hidden files.
