This article gives you some information on search engines.
Search engines are search tool or computer programs that actually does the search. Search Engines are some special web-sites on the Internet, which allow to search for the desired information on the Internet. Most of these sites also group the information available on the Internet under various categories such as business, sports, entertainment etc. These categories are also called subject guides. Subject guides are very useful for browsing general topics or general contents.
Accessing a search engine is just like accessing any other website. ( www.yahoo.com ).
A search engine maintains a database of keywords. When you request the search engine for information, it attempts to indicate the specified information is its database of keywords. If the search engine finds a match, it displays these references.
The search engine employs its own web crawler, which moves out on the net, in an automated way e.g. of robots, spider, wonder worm.
Web Crawler is a program, which crayals around the web looking at page after page, site after site like a wonderer, robot, spiders, wonder worm.
