How to access settings and reboot BSNL WiMax CPE

Is your WiMax too slow or disconnects often? Rebooting WiMax outdoor device may be a quick solution. Learn how to restart the WiMax device.

I have been using BSNL WiMax last few weeks in my home. It has been working really great during the first few weeks and I even wrote a good review about the WiMax. But unfortunately, it started giving weired problems since last 3 weeks. It will work fine and gives me good download speed of 1.5 Mbps for a while but then quickly goes down to about 100Kbps speed. If I unplug the device and plug it again, it may work fine for sometime.

I have contacted the customer support and is awaiting a solution from them but meanwhile I figured out rebooting the WiMax device will resolve the problem temporarily, even though it become slow again after sometime. However, rebooting from my computer seems to be an easier solution than walking to the device everytime to power cycle it.

Here are the steps to restart WiMax device:

  • Open your browser and go to http://192.168.0.254 (This ip address may changing depending on the model of the WiMax device you are using. Look for the ip address of your default gateway. That is the ip address you have to use to access the WiMax admin system)

  • Login to the admin panel. If you don't have a user id and password, use the default admin account (User id: Operator Password: operator)

After resetting my BSNL WiMax, I was not able to connect to internet. I searched and entered frequencies, and authentication settings but nothing happened. It shows connecting to frequency and it disconnects and reconnects. The WAN is shown as disconnected.

    Dear Sir
I've got a problem with my device so that when I bought it about six months ago it was working perfectly, but during the recent period was when the internet is interrupted only at the time of the sunset and I inform the Customer service center and they told me turn off the device and turn it on. But, the problem worsened, Internet got interrupted again and I change the location of the WiMax CPE and moved it to the top. Internet is available again but works only for a period of one day and CPE again fails to catch wireless signals. I do not know what is wrong with the CPE?
Thank you very much for your cooperation and I hope you can advise me to solve the problem
