The ectoplasm is basically a visible substance that will emanate from the spiritual body during you communication with them. As you start filling up the ectoplasm jar you will unlock a number of items that will help you in completing your mission. You can earn Juju points by buying and placing things around the mansion grounds and this can be used to unlock hidden object scenes.
