    Hi,

Active Directory is like a database which will keep all the user information of the domain. In order to connect to the domain through network then you need to enter the credentials of the domain and it will be validated in the active directory.

For example in a office or company environment you require to connect to the machine from your home, then your require internet to connect to the remote computer using the active directory password form your home.

    Hello

Active directory has a major role in networking. Active directory is an important part of Windows Server 2003 and above. With Active directory we can assign rights and restrict users using the domain controller in a large networks. We can assign a group of users and then we can create user rights to the specific groups. When a user login on a specific computer using the user name and domain name of the server containing active directory then all the settings of windows on the local machine will be applied automatically.

We can say active directory is very important and effective way to manage the local area network.

Active directory is a microsofts trademarked directory service. It is a centralized and standardised system while will automates management system for user data. It is used to design expecially for distributing network environments.

It is mainly supports for x.500standard for global directories. It is an object oriented organization which allows easier access for information.
