    In order to clean the disk you can use the disk manager utility from Windows XP.

    You can open the Disk Cleanup utility from by typing the cleanmgr and it will open the Disk manager and you can clean the system.

    Other way to open the Disk Cleanup utility is by clicking Windows start button and click all programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Disk Cleanup will open disk cleanup

    The next way is click the Windows button and click the run prompt and type cleanmgr and hit enter to open the Disk cleanup.

    If you don't clean up the system you can system performance will be slow because of the junk files in that system. The system is having so many unwanted files like Temporary internet files, Recycled bin files, Temp folders, System dump error files and other files from the system.

    Open the Disk Cleanup and select the Temporary internet files, Recycle Bin, Setup logs, Temporary files, Thumbnails etc., and then click the OK button to clean the files from the system will improve your system performance and you will get back the space which is occupied by the junk files.

    Disk Cleanup is a disk utility. By using disk utility you can remove all the unnecessary files from your hard disk. This improves the performance of your computer. You can remove the following files:-

    1) Remove temporary Internet files.
    2) Remove downloaded program files.
    3) Empty the Recycle Bin.
    4) Remove Windows temporary files.
    5) Remove optional Windows components that you are not using.
    6) Remove installed programs that you no longer use.

    Disk cleanup a small Utility Available in System Tools of Windows Xp, You can access it from the Start Menu -> Accessories -> System Tools option. It is used to clean Downloaded Program Files, Temporary Internet Files, Offline Web Pages, Old Chkdsk files, Recycle Bin, Temporary Files, Publisher Temporary files, offline files, catalog files and also by selecting the MORE OPtions button you can also clean, Windows components, Installed programs, and System Restores if you dont need them.

    Moreover users also have the option of compressing files that have not been accessed over a set period of time...
