The problem of selection between Karbonn Titanium 5 and Micromax A116 Canvas HD is faced by many persons who want to buy a smartphone with good features and with a price around Rs.15,000. The selection becomes all the more difficult when the comparative features of both the smartphones are almost the same. First, let us look at the comparative features of Karbonn Titanium S5 and Micromax A116 Canvas HD and then the price difference between the two to arrive at correct decision. Both the smartphones are manufactured by the Indian smartphone manufacturing companies. Both are powered by 1.2 GHz quad core processor. The RAM is also the same 1 GB in them. Both Titanium S5 and A116 run on the same Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system. Both the smartphones have the same internal storage of 4 GB which can be expanded externally up to 32 GB via microSD card slot. The display size is also the same 5 inches in both the smartphones. Even the display type IPS LCD capacitive screen with 16M colours is also the same. Connectivity features like 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth with A2DP, GPRS, EDGE and USB are also the same in both the smartphones. Karbonn Titanium S5 and Micromax A116 Canvas HD both support dual SIM. One of the more important features which the buyer looks for in a smartphone is its camera features. Here again, both Micromax A116 Canvas HD and Karbonn Titanium S5 has a similar primary camera of 8 MP.
Now let us see if there is any difference in the features Karbonn Titanium S5 and Micromax A116 Canvas HD. Yes, there are some features where one has advantage over the other. When we look at the screen resolution, Canvas HD is the gainer with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels as against 960 x 540 pixels of Titanium S5. Micromax has also an advantage of high pixel density of 294 ppi as compared to 222 ppi of Karbonn Titanium S5. There is slight difference in the capacity of the front facing secondary cameras of the two phones. Here the gainer is Karbonn Titanium S with 2 MP camera while A116 Canvas HD has only a VGA camera. Micromax A116 Canvas HD has slight advantage in battery size as it has Li-Lion battery of 2100 mAh as against the 2000 mAh of Karbonn Titanium S5. Micromax A116 Canvas HD is already released at Rs.14999 in February 2013, but it is not readily available at this price due to the shipping problems faced by the company. However, Karbonn Titanium S5 is likely to be available this month at Rs.11990. So, if you can spend Rs.2000 – Rs.3000 more for a better resolution and pixel density and a little high power battery, you should go for Micromax A116 Canvas HD, otherwise Karbonn Titanium S5 is also a good buy.
