The Microsoft Lumia 650 has been positioned as a corporate device. In spite of being a budget device, it has a metal build which impresses much.
Design and display
The smartphone has metal build as said before. The physical dimensions read 142 x 70.9 x 6.9 mm and the device weighs 122 grams. The rear cover is removable and plastic.
You get a 5 inch screen at HD resolution of 720x1280. The AMOLED display offers you a crystal clear performance. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The display uses the proprietary Clear Black technology.
The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 quad core processor. The clock speed of the procesor is an impresive 1.3 GHz. It comes with a 1 GB RAM which could be a little less in today's need for heavy multitasking. You get 16 GB internal storage that can be expanded by another 200 GB.
Lumia 650 carries a 8 MP rear camera with auto focus and LED flash. It has f/2.2 aperture that ensures good light permeability. Front camera reads 5 MP. The rear camera supports 720p video recording.
Battery and other features
The battery capacity appears quite low at 2000 mAh. Microsoft claims a talk time of 16 hours on 4G. The standard standby time is rated at 26 days. The smartphone has support for 4G connectivity.
Well, that's where the phone has a great new feel. Maybe it is the first budget phone to have Windows 10. It does not support "continnum" feature though. The software runs quite smooth. There are no visible lags.
Price and availability
The device is yet to be lunched in India. The phone is available in European markets for $199 from 15th Feb, 2016. There is currently no word on the launch date for India. If launched at the same price band, it should cost around Rs. 14000.
