How to use Android Apps on ChromeBook ?

Google is currently working with developers to bring a few Android apps to Chrome OS. You can run any Android app on your Chromebook. Google created a "runtime" that allows any Android app to run on Chrome OS. Installing one of the apps will get you the runtime, and then you can "sideload" an Android app and run it on your Chromebook.

You are right. Google is working with Android Developers to port their apps to Chrome OS via "App Runtime for Chrome (Beta)". The project is still in its beta stage.

To run Android Apps on Chrome OS or Chromebook, you have to download the ported apps from - https://chrome.google.com/webstore. However, you may face some glitches while running these apps.

Some of the popular apps are Evernote, Vine, OneDrive etc.
