Regarding 3G issue in Xiaomi MI3

Date: 31 Jan 2015   Posted By: anudeep     Group: Networking & Connectivity    Category: Internet & Phone Connections

Hi there,
This is Anudeep from India. Recently 1 month back I bought Mi3 in china, the problem is now I came back to India. I am not unable to use 3G service here, I can use 2G but not 3G. I have contacted network customer care center and found that there is no problem from their side. I have even tried using other mobile network providers to see if 3G would work. I am using airtel (Hyderabad Location) and I have tried so many ways to counter the problem. I have also selected "preferred 3G" in network settings but whenever I select only 3G service, I am unable to get signals. So, I want to seek expert's advice regarding this.

It is because of the differential GSM band standards in India and China. India uses 900 and 1800 MHz for 2G and 2100 MHz for 3G. Check with your service provider to ascertain which band do they use. Check whether your phone states that it supports 2100 MHz.

I'm not pretty sure that this will work or not; But I should recommend you to reset your phone once. You can reset your phone by following the steps:-

  • Press the volume up and power button together.
  • Then you'll see Mi Logo on the screen.
  • Then select the language.
  • You can use the volume keys to navigate and the power key to select.
  • Select wipe and reset the then yes and the power off the phone for 5 Minutes.
  • After that restart the phone and hope for the best.
