Android KitKat to Android Lollipop upgrade

We recently came to know about Android L or Android Lollipop 5.0 OS that was launched by Google. Can we upgrade our smartphone from Android KitKat to Android Lollipop OS? What are the different features of Android Lollipop compare to Android KitKat? Kindly advice.

The listed devices only will get Android Lollipop (5.0) update officially.
If the device not listed so you can use custom ROMs to upgrade your device OS to Lollipop after release of official update of lollipop to maximum devices.

Differences between Android 5.0 Lollipop and Android KitKat

1. Android 5.0 Lollipop vs. Android KitKat - User interface:
New soft buttons of back(triangle arrow), home(circle), recent apps(square) available in Lollipop.
Roboto font updated in Lollipop.
New wallpapers are available.
Icons comes with smoother edges.
The flatness seen in KitKat is still present and correct, but it comes with a twist: realism. Animation is going to play a big part in the new design, and Android Lollipop will adopt real-time shadows to give its interface more depth and make it look a little more dynamic.

2. Android 5.0 Lollipop vs. Android KitKat - Battery saving:
Lollipop has default battery management like:
Low usage of CPU that will boost battery saving up-to 90 minutes.
Time left for full charge and estimated time left before need to charge.
KitKat doesn't have such features but possible with help of external third party apps.

3. Android 5.0 Lollipop vs. Android KitKat - Notifications and lock-screen:
Notifications and lock-screen are merged in Lollipop.
It is able to show important notification with the help of priority of notifications.
