Check the article(reference link) for how to create bootable USB device for OS.

It's not safe to save Operating Systems in USB devices as it can be easily get infected by viruses(if it will connected to other infected computers).
Better to save OS in a DVD(read only) as it will not be rewritable so the Viruses cannot infect any file of the OS present in the DVD, means full protection to the OS with no loss of files(because files cannot be deleted as DVD is only readable) and virus attacks.

All you need is Windows7/8/8.1 in iso format and a software named PowerISO. Install PowerISO in your system and run it. When the window is open, select Options in the top toolbar and you'll find a option named Create Bootable USB. Select it. Another window is opened, click on browse and choose the ISO file, and proceed to Creating Bootable USB. Within 5 mins you will have a Windows bootable USB.
