Compilation of program using g++ on 32 bit and 64 bit machine.

I am doing coding for computational fluid dynamics problem for my PhD research work. I am builing my program/code in C programming using g++ compiler in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr).

I have first installed 32 bit version Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) and I found computational speed is very good compared to when I installed 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) for 64 bit. Every time I am using g++ for compilation purpose.

I do not know the reason why program performs better in 32 bit compared to 64 bit. Please let me know if there is OS dependability as well as g++ compiler compatibility with respect to 32 bit and 64 bit.
