Best example for Creative Commons is Wikipedia. It is actually a license and any content or product under this license is free of charge. Usually you need a permission to share or reuse the content of others. All content or information under Creative Commons license can be shared and reused. Think if you created a clip art related to education and you want it use by any user. If students want use in their assignments each of them will ask permission to you again and again. In this case if you license it under Creative Commons then they will use it without your permission. However the students must include your name while using it in their assignments. There are some other rules in Creative Commons license like you can sell and make money from the clip art and neither of them were allowed to do so. All license depends on attribution they use under Creative Common. In attribution are nothing but a symbol which mention whether the content can be re-used, sell or provide reference to the author. If you find a attribution is strike out then you can't do it. Some of the open source available under Creative Commons are:

1. Jamendo for audio
2. Flickr for photos
3. DigitalNZ contains many content
