Linkedin is one of the reputed site and no doubt about it and it is from in.com. This is one of the general site which has almost all the options of social networking site and combined job information along with various choice of article, entertainment and travel etc. Yes, you can believe its job information to get placement but make sure that you selected latest date recruitment post and not the old one. You can register and post your resume too.

Linkedin is the site which aims to manage and extend your professional network. Users are Linkedin put job advertisements as per their requirements.
Linked is neither social networking site nor it is employment site but it is professional networking site where you can extend your professional network by various specializations. It is a networking site which gives you opportunity to meet new peoples in your field.
As most of the users of Linkedin are serious professionals we can consider jobs on Linkedin as legitimate jobs. But Linkedin do not have any role in these job advertisements and person who is posting job uses the platform provided by Linkedin to get right persons for his job.

Though, LinkedIn is viewed and categorized as social networking site, it indeed serves a much better purpose than social networking websites.

In my view, LinkedIn is an effective way of professional networking. You can join the circles of your previous organization colleagues. These days several companies do reference checking from the previous employer. In such cases your LinkedIn profile friends can prove your words if the management or boss is not polite enough to answer the reference check call.

Linkedin has altogether a different working mechanism as compared to the job portals i.e. naukri.com, shine.com, monster.com, etc. In any job portal employers seeking candidates to fulfill a vacancy post a job description and job seekers can read the job description and apply for the desired work profile. On the other hand, in addition to getting the job description of the vacancy, the interested candidate can also have a close look on the people group of that particular organization.

Also, you can make use of the endorsements from your em-seniors and mentors to make a good impression on the prospective employer. With all these benefits, I think, LinkedIn may prove to be a really helpful professional networking website for spreading your career horizons.
