This question is about blocking the USB access for storage devices like external HDD and Pen drive and other USB storage devices. The blocking should not restrict the Printer, Scanner and other input devices like, USB and Keyboard connections. We want to block only USB storage devices.

To protect your data, one can disable or enable the USB access by following method

    Go to 'Start' option
    Go to 'Run' option.
Key in as "regedit" without quotes. This will launch another window with the Registry Editor.
Navigate to the following folder path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\usbstor
Double click on 'Start' at the 'work area' option
Enter 4 in the Value Data box - replace default 3
Click on OK and close Registry Editor and refresh your desktop.
Now it is disabled the USB access.
To re-enable access to your USB ports, go through the same steps and enter 3 in the Value Data box as you keyed in for 4. OK, close the windows and will work smoothly. This is only able for Windows related OS system.
