Photo voltaic (PV) panels which are powered by Solar keep exciting the electrons latent in silicon cells and they do it by absorbing the photons of light from the sun. in this way they convert the sun-rays into electricity.

    It goes like this:
The solar panels contain solar cells that are made of silicon. It is a combination of other materials too following a particular methodology so that some extra electrons get collected in a portion of the cell, and the missing electrons gets accumulated in another part.

Now as soon as the sunlight hits the cell, all the photons in the light keep knocking few of those extra electrons which aren't attached to the silicon, these electrons flow to that part of the cell where the missing electrons got accumulated. This flow now becomes capable of producing an electrical current which consequentially reaches the inverter, there it is converted into electricity, ready for use.
